Key Word Help


Key words help you locate the information you need. The key words in this sentence are underlined. The student wants information about traveling in space.

In the year 1997 the Space Shuttle blasted off from Cape Kennedy in Florida.

Why isn't "Florida" a key word?

You might think of key words that are NOT in the sentence. For example, "NASA" ,"rockets","space travel", or "astronaut".

Key words are often nouns.



Try to find the key words in these sentences. Click on the words you think are key words.

 

  1. The student wants information about cars. When were cars first invented? (other possible key words: automobile, motorcycle, steering wheel, inventions, inventors, car radio, history)

  2. The student wants information about music. What musical instruments are in an orchestra? (other possible key words: trumpet, drums, CD player, the Beatles )

  3. The student wants information about flying. What is the fastest airplane? (other possible key words: jet, aviation, clouds, sky, air force)


    A Couple of Searching Hints:

 

When searching at Yahoo! or Yahooligans! try putting a

"+" sign in front of words. That means the word must be found.

     

Or

Put the words inside "quotes". That means the words must be found exactly the way you typed them.
