Colorado History in Photographs

of the Old West


 

Listed below is the link to the Western History Department of the Denver Public Library. The Western History Department archives a collection of several thousand photographs of the Old West. It can be very interesting to see what things looked like "back then".

Directions:

  1. Print these directions. Go to the [File Menu] and choose "Print" or press APPLE-P. Keep the paper and check off the parts you finish.
  2. When you get to the site, click the photograph.
  3. You will see a page of 50 different photographs from Colorado's History. Explore each one until your teacher stops you.
  4. To explore: click the photo, read about it, click the photo again to see it full size. Use the {BACK Button} to return to the 50 photos.
  5. Pick your favorite photo. Go back and explore its information again.
  6. Then write a paragraph describing the photo or telling the story of what must have been happening.
